Soundproofing a fence

Soundproofing a fence, well that would be impossible because, you would have to make a really tall fence to block all the noise. There must be some way, because millions of dollars are spent to build those sound walls along our byways of transportation. So a soundproof fence is out of the question, however you can build yourself a sound control fence. You can wrangle that noise to a tolerable level. The fence will have to be tall, at least 8 feet taller than the offending noise. One of my greatest pleasures, and one of the most soothing in these days of relentless stress, is listening to the sound of the sea. It’s one of the reasons we continue to live on these Islands. It’s easy to imagine the way things were here 100 years ago: almost no man-made sounds at all. Maybe somebody hammering a boat together, chopping bush or digging their ground. Maybe even the occasional Saturday night kitchen band (unamplified, of course). But there were no machines, no television, CD players or boom-boxes, and no vehicles except horse-drawn carts. Review of Squeeeeek No More (Squeak No More)

Part of soundproofing a ceiling may involve repairing the squeaks in the floor above you. So, I bought the Squeeeeek No More kit. From the manufacturer, "Stops floor squeaks from the top of the floor by safely going through the carpet!" So here is the situation, my neighbors condo above me has some spots where the floors are squeaky. They are moving out, so they were nice enough to let me come in and fix the squeaks. So, I ordered the Squeeeeek No More kit. It came with 50 screws, joist locater (long screw with threads at the end), alignment and depth control fixture, and a special driver bit. So, I first started in the neighbors bedroom, where I have been cursed by this squeaky floor. I love waking up to a loud squeak at 3 AM. There was a wide swath of floor that squeaked when you walked across it. So, I started with the loudest squeak. The directions say that the first joist is usually 9 to 10 inches away from the wall.
